Professor Poul Erik Nielsen, Institute of Information and Media Studies, University of Aarhus, Denmark, traveled to Mongolia’s western aimags on UNESCO mission to study local media development. The tightly scheduled trip took sometimes 16 hours of driving a day. Here we are with a local boy in Darvi soum of Hovd aimag while taking a break.

Now I’m in Western Mongolia traveling through Gobi-Altai, Hovd, Bayan-Olgii, Uvs and Zavhan aimags. Many days passed without internet connection. The trip will end around the 24th of September. In coming days, perhaps when I’m back in UB, there will be more photos posted showing some of mountains and lakes in western Mongolia.
